I am delighted to send out a big thank you to Dan from Empty Easel for his great write up of my work.  I wasn’t aware that I’d been selected for an artist review until I log onto Empty Easel myself and saw my name…. it was a great way to start my morning!

Another day of painting outside!  Minnesota served up another gorgeous day today, and I was able to take advantage of this blue sky morning by getting a second session in on the landscape above.  After the light had shifted, I set up for my second go of the morning; a quick oil sketch of the wildlife preserve administration building.  I’ve removed a lot of the pigments form my palette, and am now working with only about 6.  It’s proved to challenging, but I think in the end, will be a great thing for my painting.

2015 Summit Ave, St.Paul Minnesota

Today was another beautiful day, so I found my self painting outside again.  I didn’t have to travel to  far from my own house today.  In Minnesota, or most anywhere, Summit Ave is a truely one of a kind street with big homes everywhere you turn.  Subject wise, this was kind of different choice for me, but I had a great time.

I finally made it back to the studio today.  I’m with out air conditioning, and it was really hot again today in Minneapolis.  I decided to grab my brushes, and head out to do some plein air work.  Today is a double post.  The first one, Stream, took about an hour and a half, and is painted on a panel.  The second, Park, took about 45 minutes, and is also painted on a panel.  Landscape has always been a love of mine, and I’m excited to be getting back into it.
